Flag to Remember

Our flags are uniquely designed to resemble an American flag and share its core values, while also having a clear distinction to avoid the perception of defacing the American flag. All flags come with a unique serial number printed on the front corner so that our hosts and name donors can track the journey of their respective flags via our website events page as they are presented and flown at various events and shared on social media.

Creating a Flag to Remember

Flag to remember

Step One:
Name Donors

Name Donors are a person submitting the name of a fallen Service Member or First Responder to be sewn to our flags throughout the year, at no cost. Regardless of the cause of death, in or after their service, they can be on a flag. The donor chooses the pattern of uniform that best represents their loved one’s time in service.

All registered names go to our database and are placed indefinitely in a queue to be
added to future flags.

Step Two:
Flag Hosts

Flag Hosts are businesses and organizations dedicated to publicly displaying our flags as enduring tributes to our heroes. Our hosts understand these flags aren’t just symbols; they’re tangible pieces of legacy that bring comfort to grieving families and unite communities in remembrance.

By becoming a Flag Host, you gain nationwide visibility and join a movement redefining how we honor our heroes.

Host locations include airports, stadiums, VFW/American Legion posts, breweries, veteran-owned businesses, hospitals, and nonprofits.

Each flag is carefully crafted through four stages: printing, sewing, framing (if needed), and shipping (for locations outside North Carolina). A one-time donation from Flag Hosts helps cover the labor and material costs, ensuring these powerful symbols continue to inspire and connect communities.

Step Three:
Building the Flag

Our flags embody several unique features that make our mission profoundly symbolic and deeply impactful.

The Union

The blue portion on the front of each flag represents the “Union”, printed on the Union are all branches of the Military and First Responder insignia. They are encircled by 21 stars, to symbolize the traditional 21-gun salute given to our fallen heroes. On the back of the flag is our Foundation’s logo.

Name Tape

We sew on the actual patterned uniform name tape that each fallen wore during his/her service. Name Donors are encouraged to personalize the name tape to their best form of remembrance, whether it be nicknames, dates, or a standard Rank and name.

Serial Number

Most importantly, we assign each flag its own number. This helps Name Donors keep
track of each flag’s location. Additionally, when other visit a flag they can post and tag
the flag’s picture and number, which provides updates, awareness and remembrance to the names on each flag.

Step Four:
Flag Dedication

Flag hosts often invite the community, to unveil the flag and speak to the importance of having a flag displayed at their organization. Once a flag is dedicated, we send a flyer to our hundreds of families with information about the Flag host and how they can contact and visit the flag.

Flag 002 in Memory of SSG Wade Langley

SSG Wade Langley Jr. was born March 9, 1983, in Columbus, Ohio. Wade enlisted in the U.S. Army after the events of 9-11 took place.

During his military career, Wade deployed three times in support of Combat Operations during the Global War on Terror. During his 12 years of service, he received many awards.

SSG Wade Langley loved his family, being outdoors shooting and riding four-wheelers. He was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeye fan! Always had you laughing, and if you didn’t know the answer to something he did!

On March 29, 2014, SSG Wade Langley passed away due to PTSD. Wade was an outstanding soldier, a loving husband, and a wonderful friend. He truly left his mark on the world. Forever missed but never forgotten.
